KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode district administration with the help of the health department and various local self-government bodies in Kozhikode district has set up 565 Covid-19 care centres to keep the non-resident Keralites (NRKs) arriving from oversees countries under quarantine.
The centres are set up across the district with the help of respective local self-government bodies.
Out of the 66 NRKs who arrived in Kozhikode on May 7, 40 of them are kept under home quarantine and the remaining 26 under institutional quarantine. A total of 19 passengers arrived from Riyad on May 9. Out of this, 16 of them includes expecting mothers and children below 10 years send for home quarantine and three kept under government Covid care centres.
The health department has ensured the services of doctors and health staff at the Covid care centres in case any emergency situation arises. The food is supplied by the volunteers assigned on duty at the centres. DMO Dr V Jayashree informed that the department has put in place all the arrangements at the Covid care centres to meet any needs of NRKs kept under institutional and home quarantine.
